Why Choose an Air Source Heat Pump?
Air source heat pumps (ASHPs) are a highly efficient, low-carbon alternative to conventional boilers. They use electricity to extract heat from the air outside (even in Scottish winters) and deliver it through your central heating system to provide renewable heating and hot water.
The benefits:
- Works in temperatures as low as -15°C
- Can reduce heating costs by over 50% for many households
- Helps improve your home’s Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating
- Eligible for Scottish government grants and energy efficiency funding
- Compatible with smart controls to keep your home warm
- Suitable for radiators and underfloor heating

Great experience throughout. Martin who worked with us throughout the process was incredibly helpful and well-informed. He assisted with all our questions during the process and after. When it came to the installation, the team did an amazing job and the installer was great at walking us through what would happen or need to be done to fit our heatpump.
Air Source Heat Pump Customer
Considering the work needed, they were incredibly tidy and everything was done to a high standard. Can't recommend enough. After the installation, they were very helpful getting us up and letting us know how to manage the system. Going above and beyond.

What’s the difference between air source and ground source heat pumps?
Both air source and ground source heat pumps are highly efficient, low-carbon heating systems, but they work in different ways and suit different types of properties.
- Air source heat pumps (or air-to-air heat pumps) extract heat from the outside air. They’re compact, easier to install, and more affordable upfront, making them a popular choice for most homes in Scotland.
- Ground source heat pumps (or air-to-water heat pumps) collect heat from the ground using an outdoor unit and buried pipes. They’re extremely efficient year-round, particularly for larger homes with existing radiators or underfloor heating systems in place, but require significant outdoor space and a higher upfront cost due to the groundwork involved.
For most homes, air source heat pumps offer the best balance of efficiency, affordability and ease of installation. If you’re unsure which renewable technology is right for your property, we’ll assess your site and explain your options during your survey.
