James Frew Academy

Our JF Academy is dedicated to nurturing talent across the West, Central, and South of Scotland – including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, Dumfries & Galloway, and surrounding areas. Offering professional development and training, we are committed to empowering the next generation of skilled workers in the building services industry.

We passionately believe that to grow over the next 100 years, we need to develop the skills, values and behaviours of our team to create the best technicians, managers, and leaders in the industry. This conviction resulted in The James Frew Academy being set up.

The James Frew Academy was established in 2017, in collaboration with West College Scotland, to educate our workforce in the James Frew Way. In 2023, we introduced our Carpentry/joinery academy based in Ayrshire College within the Willie Mackie Skills hub.

This dedicated, high-quality teaching facility delivers a range of bespoke apprenticeship training, employee development and leadership and management programmes.

The company’s flagship training schemes are its SVQ 3 in Plumbing and SVQ 3 CITB Carpentry and Joinery programmes. These courses, which include bespoke enhanced modules, satisfy the requirements of the apprenticeship framework, and help to develop highly skilled and valued employees.

Our commitment to people’s development can clearly be seen by the fact that over 15% of our employees are current apprentices.

The strength of the company is in its people. We are committed to the training, health and safety of all our employees and by working together; we provide a quality service to all our customers, every time.
