As part of our ongoing Community Benefit Programme, delivered in partnership with Ayrshire Housing, we were delighted to complete a significant refurbishment project at Heathfield Community Centre.
The project included the installation of a brand-new kitchen, along with new worktops and splashbacks, replacement flooring, a full electrical rewire, and repairs to the centre’s water heater. These improvements have transformed the space into a modern, functional facility that will support the many groups and individuals who use the centre each week.
The works were carried out by a dedicated James Frew team led by Site Manager Derek Sweeny, who ensured the project was completed to the highest standard. Derek was keen to recognise the efforts of the team involved, including John Simpson Derek McCiver, Ethan O’Hare, Davie Harvie and Sanny Bain.
Derek Sweeny, Site Manager, said:
“It has been a pleasure to be part of a project that will have such a positive impact on the local community. The team worked incredibly hard throughout, delivering every aspect of the refurbishment to an excellent standard. I’d like to personally thank John, Derek, Ethan, Davie and Sanny for their professionalism, dedication and teamwork. Their efforts have helped create a fantastic facility that the community can be proud of and enjoy for many years to come.”
A representative from Heathfield Community Association added:
“Heathfield Community Association are delighted to have benefitted from the Community Benefit funding provided through James Frew Ltd. Our new kitchen was installed within the agreed timeframe, and communication was excellent throughout the entire process.
The upgrade to our kitchen within Heathfield Community Centre will benefit more than 10 user groups and over 800 weekly users. The new kitchen has enhanced our communal space, and everyone is keen to maintain it and take pride in it. As a self-funding community centre, any assistance with maintenance is greatly appreciated and gratefully received.
We would like to thank James Frew Ltd and North Ayrshire Housing for helping us collaborate on this project and deliver a much-needed improvement for our community.”
This project is a fantastic example of how strong partnerships can make a lasting difference, providing improved facilities and creating positive outcomes for local communities.
