John Barbour Retires

After an incredible 40 years, John Barbour has officially retired from James Frew Ltd.

John began his journey with the company back in 1984 on the YTS government program, then started as a young apprentice plumbing and heating engineer. Over the years, he steadily progressed through the ranks, gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience along the way.

His dedication and commitment to the company never wavered, and in 2022, he was deservedly appointed as MPS Head of Operations.

Throughout his four decades at James Frew, John became more than just a colleague — he became a mentor and a trusted friend to many. He played a vital role in shaping the careers of those around him, including our apprentices, and has left a lasting impression on the people he worked with.

Managing Director Roddy Frew said, “I have known and worked with John for 35 years. Starting off as his apprentice, promoting him off the tools in the early 2000s. He has been a key member of my team and has hugely contributed to the success of the Company. His loyalty, work ethic, knowledge and indeed friendship will be a big miss to me. Hopefully, he can now set his alarm clock a touch later!”

As John embarks on his well-earned retirement, we extend our thanks to him for his years of service. He will be missed, but we wish him all the best.

Enjoy every moment, John — you’ve earned it!
